World Premiere by Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass

On December 14 the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass will be premiering Paul's work for large brass ensemble, 'Gegensätze,' at Orchestra Hall, Chicago.

Ahead of their Orchestra Hall concert, the CSO Brass played their entire concert in Rockford, IL, including Gegensatze. For me this piece was the highpoint, and showed amazing sensitivity to brass sororities. Such writing leaves me to ask why Paul has not yet composed for wind band, where his style and skill would be a welcome addition.

Hi Paul, The score and parts of Gegensätze are available for purchase here: www.kookaburramusic.com
I'm not sure what the Chicago Symphony will do with the recording as yet.

I attended the CSO Brass concert and absolutely loved this piece. I've ordered it for my brass players, but I know it would be terrific for full wind band - I hope you'll think about arranging it soon. Thank you for a beautiful work.

Thanks for your comments Mary. Hopefully there'll be time in 2012 to arrange the wind band version.
